Rod and Wheel House offers high quality accommodation in Lumsden, situated in Southland on the South Island of New Zealand. The self contained house combines warm rimu wood finishes with modern amenities. The house is surrounded by a private garden yet is only a short stroll to town services. It is a perfect base for fly fishing brown trout in the Oreti and Mataura Rivers and many others. It is located along the middle section of The Around the Mountain Cycle Trail which starts in Queenstown, travels through Lumsden and ends at Kingston.

All bedrooms have built in wardrobes, warm carpets, superior mattresses, bank heaters, electric blankets, double glazed windows and thick curtains. They provide a very warm and quiet place to rest after a day exploring Southland.

A cot and high chair can be provided if required.

Main Bathroom - Contains a separate bath, shower, basin, toilet, heated floor and heated towel rail. The house has a gas hot water system which provides plenty of hot water for showers or baths.

Half Bathroom - Includes a second toilet and basin.

The laundry contains a washing machine, clothes dryer and large laundry tub. There is a washing line located in a covered position outside and a portable line inside the laundry.

The renovated kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances and fittings including fridge/freezer, microwave, stove, oven and dishwasher. All utensils are supplied for preparing meals.

The large wooden table comfortably seats 8 guests.

Another large dining table is also situated in a covered area for outdoor dining during the long summer evenings.

The combustion wood burner provides the center piece for guests to relax or settle back and watch SKY TV or a DVD.

The room comfortably seats 6 adults in plush sofas and offers a eclectic DVD library with fly fishing and general entertainment titles.

The kitchen, lounge and dining areas are in an open plan design which provides a very social setting for preparing meals or relaxing in the evening.

Lockable garage parking is available for one vehicle. The garage also has a bike rack for securely holding 5 bicycles.

A wide open carpark at the rear of the property provides plenty of space for boats and larger vehicles.

A spacious covered pergola above a large dining table with bench seats and gas BBQ provides an ideal setting to relax after a day fishing. cycling, walking or sightseeing in Southland. The garden has been planted with flowers in the back and native shrubs in the front.
